Hurricane Sandy Knocks Out Some Websites; Off-Site Data Centers, Back-Up Servers Save The Day :: <div class="field field-name-field-images field-type-entityreference field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p> </p><p>Hurricane Sandy, which ravaged the U.S. East Coast, has also wreaked havoc in the cyber world as the storm floods knocked down the servers of several popular websites, forcing them to go offline for hours.</p><p>Several websites like the Huffington Post, Jezebel, Gawker and Gizmodo experienced technical problems as the servers of the Internet service provider Datagram, which powers these websites, went off. The storm water flooded the electrical and equipment system in the Datagram building forcing them to shutdown power to avoid permanent damage.</p></div></div></div>

US Stock Futures Signal Higher Open As Markets Set To Reopen After Storm :: <div class="field field-name-field-images field-type-entityreference field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even"> </div></div></div><div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p> </p><p> </p><p>The U.S. stock index futures point to a higher open Wednesday with markets prepared to reopen after two days of closure as Superstorm Sandy hit the east coast.</p><p>The futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were up 0.33 percent, the futures on the Standard &amp; Poor's 500 Index were up 0.36 percent and those on the Nasdaq 100 Index were up 0.17 percent. </p><p>"While the economic and social cost of the super storm will be counted over coming days markets in general appear to have brushed off their worst fears," Credit Agricole said in a note.</p></div></div></div>

Superstorm Sandy: JFK, Newark Airports To Resume Operations Wednesday; Rescue, Restoration Operations Progress :: <div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p> </p><p>The U.S. East Coast, which has been battered by the most devastating storm to hit in the recent decades, is slowly recovering from the impact and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and Newark International Airport in New Jersey would open at 7 a.m. Wednesday with limited services.</p><p>Both the airports along with other airports in the coast were closed Monday and Tuesday due to Superstorm Sandy. An estimated 15,000 fliers were stranded across the country.  </p></div></div></div>
